Confused : Meet Missy Elliot and Timbaland For Aaliyah’s Biopic

If you’re a fan of Aaliyah you know there’s a Lifetime biopic being made about the singer. The movie, executive produced by Wendy Williams, has gone through some significant casting changes.

After Zendaya backed out of the film to play Aaliyah and Nickelodeon star Alexandra Shipp replaced her, we now have the faces who will play Aaliyah’s mentors and friends. According to The Wrap, Missy Elliot and Timbaland will be portrayed by Chattrisse Dolabaille and Izaak Smith. Dolabaille is a newcomer while Smith has worked as a dancer and appeared on “So You Think You Can Dance Canada” and was also in “Mirror Mirror.”

The movie has already caused some pretty upset fans over casting decisions and the fact that Aaliyah’s family is not involved in the making of the film.

I would say being a huge fan of Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, Timbaland, and that era period,  I’m disappointed that casting (in my opinion) put a lack of effort to find actors that closely resemble the two.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for the actors and I’m sure they have great acting abilities.  This just means a lot of make up and suits are going to made to pull this one off.
